Bangkok Trip

bangkok city

finally, i been to bangkok. haha. been planning to visit this place for quite some time but everytime also failed. luckily this time managed to go because i'm no longer bound by classes or assignment. it is a good thing that i went with family because save alot on accomodation, flight, food and not to forget shopping bills too. hehe.

departed to bangkok on 21st of june, via airasia planes. the ride was quite bumping and squeezy too but overall was alright. don't really care bout the flight though because the main thing is still go play in bangkok. the flight took bout 2 hours to reached bangkok, and trip to hotel from airport took another hour. luckily we arrived in the noon, not evening, if not we would be stucked in heavy traffic. when i say heavy, i mean really bad traffic. lol.

lunch was simple on the 1st day, just some plain noodles soup from nearby food stall. after that, we went down town for some light shopping before going for dinner with dad's friend. visited the famous EraWan Shrine in the centre of Bangkok city.
EraWan Shrine

the shrine is surrounded by high end shopping complex and 5 stars hotel. gosh, that place is packed with tourists and locals also. something like our bukit bintang area, but more buildings. getting there by cab took us about 45mins, though the distance travelled is actually quite short. went to nearby shopping mall to spend some time there before heading off for dinner with dad's friend. took the skybus for the 1st and finds that its system is kinda troublesome.

2nd day, which is sunday, we went to chatukchak market. it is like a big flee market that only opens on saturday and sunday. guess we're in luck because the weather in bangkok is good, as in sunny and it is weekend, so the market is open. the market itself is damn big, couldn't finished it in a day. bought some souvenir and some clothing from there. really got alot of things to see there. wanna visit that place if i go bangkok next time.

dinner for 2nd night was abit different. it was a river cruise dinner which mean dinner is served onboard. cool. especially when we're cruising on chao phraya river. something not to be missed.

reached the port earlier, so went around to look for local snack, and guess what i found? jeng jeng jeng! fried insects!!! hohoho. been looking for it since day 1, but couldn't find any. haha. though most of it look digusting, but in fact it taste like normal keropok or any fried snack. i bought one packet of mini sized fried maggots and one scoop of fried ants with onion. taste damn good.

dinner on cruise was set meal, so it according to person. we had a mixture of both thai set and seafood set. price was slightly on the high side but it was worth every single penny of it, i mean bahts. besides, there also got some thai dancing sort of performance so i guess the river cruise thingy was something different. probably cause their river don't stink like ours.

one place i that i didn't visit was the grand palace, so i'll make sure i visit it next time. here's the video of it during night time, and gosh it's beautiful.

3rd day, dad went for golf with his thai colleagues, so we went for day tour starting from floating market. the market was fairly simple but quite boring also. nothing exciting about it, and the journey to there is about an hour. quite a disappointed spot i think. ride to the market was by speed boat, and it was quite scary also because we're not given life jacket, and the boat is swift from left to right on the river throughout the journey.

after floating, the tour guide took us to wood craving center. at least it got things to see like how those fabulous wood is being craved into piece of art like the one below. skillful people, respect! elephant farm was next on the list, before heading for lunch at croc farm.

elephant show

after the elephant show, we went to rose garden for some theater show but unfortunely, grandma fell down and was rushed to Bangkok International Hospital. check out found out that her shoulder bones had slight fracture but it was no big deal. just need time to heal and less movement. dinner that night was fairly simple, steamboat thai style. haha.

4th day, also the last free day in Bangkok. due to grandma's injury, aunty stayed back in hotel to accompany so only my own family went for shopping spread. dad's friend was kind enough to give us a ride there, because his driver was free that noon. 1st destination was MBK Center. it is quite big and had various stuff in it. similar to sungai wang but more spacious, and bigger too.
shopping...

one thing good bout bangkok is their shopping mall all located near to each other. after MBK, we walked on the sky bridge to Siam Paragon which is opposite of MBK. that place is similar to Pavillion, too high class for us to shop there. haha. just spend like 30mins there before heading to Central Plaza. all these shopping is connected by a pedestrian walkway bridge called Sky Bridge. it's good for tourist like us, to get from one point to another without the hassles of crossing busy roads.

main shopping district

had our dinner in one of the thai restaurant inside the plaza, called Taling Pling. food there is nice, ambience is good too, and price while is reasonable. highly recommended. hehe.

our flight back to malaysia is 315pm, so after breakfast we went back our rooms to packed up. leave for airport after checked out and spend bout an hour or two in the airport doing last minute shopping on duty free stuff. around 6pm, i'm back on malaysia's soil.
